Youth Activities

Here, you'll find youth STEM activities.  Some of these activities are directly connected to the STEM Nova or Supernova awards or existing STEM-related belt loops, pins, or badges.  Others are generally related to STEM fields but not specifically to BSA's Nova or Supernova awards.  You will find leader pages and youth activity pages for specific activities in the subfolders of this page.  Read below for descriptions of what is offered here.

Ready-Set-Go Activities

The youth activities on this website are what we call Ready-Set-Go Activities.  Each Leader Page describes what you need to do to get ready for the described activity, how to set it up, and how it should proceed once you tell the kids, "Go!"  The Activity Pages include all the worksheets that the youth would ideally be doing during the activity.  The getting-ready part and the getting-set part are not always simple and quick, but the detailed Leader Pages are meant to take much of the guess work out of the picture.

Poster Elements

Many of the youth activities are accompanied by a file titled Poster Elements.  These files contain titles, graphics, photos, and so on that can be cut out and adhered to a standard 22"x28" poster board.  These poster boards are not crucial to any of the activities, but they can be very helpful in explaining some of the concepts to the youth or piquing their interest in the activity.
